A Message From Our Founder

In Loving Memory of Sonya Lamont McDonald

The SONYA Foundation was created in honor of my mother, Sonya Lamont McDonald — a woman whose life was defined by service, compassion, and community. She had a heart for people and never hesitated to feed, nurture, and uplift those around her. Whether it was a neighbor in need or a stranger passing through, Mom believed in the power of giving without expecting anything in return.

Growing up, she always told us, “Receiving is good, but giving makes you feel even better.” At the time, I didn’t fully understand what she meant. But now, I do.

This foundation is my way of continuing her legacy — of giving back to the community the way she so selflessly gave to everyone she met. Through our programs, outreach, and everyday acts of kindness, we hope to keep her spirit alive and make a lasting impact, just as she did.
